Coach the Coach
At Wheatland, we believe that great coaching is about more than systems and drills—it’s about communication, connection, and creating a learning environment where kids thrive. We are proud to introduce Coach the Coach - a new initiative designed to support coaches by offering a fresh, education-first perspective.
Led by Coach Rich, whose career spans from being a high school physics teacher to university professor and a school administrator - Coach the Coach draws on decades of experience in pedagogy and curriculum design. Rich brings a rare blend of classroom expertise and on-ice leadership, bridging the gap between sport and education in a way that few can.
This isn’t an accreditation program, and it's not about building the perfect drill. Coach the Coach is about helping coaches at all levels rethink how they teach, communicate, and connect with their players—so that learning sticks, confidence grows, and fun stays front and centre.
We are working towards our first in-person workshop this fall, with more details to come. If you’re interested in learning more or being part of the first program, we invite you to register to stay in the loop.
At Wheatland, we are breaking down the traditional barriers in sport and creating access to a different kind of coaching education - one that empowers our community of volunteers with tools and insight that go far beyond the bench.
Let’s build a better game, together.
